American Diabetes Alert Day March 25
March 25, 2025

Today seems like an ordinary Tuesday, but for nearly 40 million Americans afflicted with diabetes, “ordinary” is kind of relative. That’s why today – the fourth Tuesday of March – is recognized annually as American Diabetes Alert Day, a one-day “wake-up call” created by the American Diabetes Association to focus on the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of understanding your risk.
Diabetes awareness isn’t just about noting the inconvenience of insulin injections or oral medications or blood sugar monitoring. It’s also about pointing out diabetes’ many negative effects on the body, including potential damage to the eyes, heart, kidneys, and nerves – and taking steps to prevent it.
American Diabetes Alert Day is meant to prompt us to learn our family history of diabetes and make healthy lifestyle choices such as eating a proper diet, exercising, losing weight, quitting smoking, and only drinking in moderation, if at all. Learn more about your diabetes risk by taking our free

If this alert got your attention – or your diabetes assessment didn’t go so well – reach out to your primary care provider to discuss your risk for diabetes. If you don’t have a primary care provider, you can find a St. Francis Medical Group provider by visiting MyStFrancis.com/Docs
