Schuster Named St. Francis-Emory DAISY Award Winner

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Congrats to Stephanie Schuster, RN, who is the latest recipient of our prestigious award.
Here are a few of the wonderful things our nominator had to say about Schuster:
“Stephanie cared for a very sick pediatric patient one-on-one for several hours recently,” the nomination read. “She could not be more than an arm's length from this young man, vigilantly monitoring him and intervening when there were changes in his status. Stephanie is an excellent, experienced nurse but she also used all her compassion and skill when caring for this small and vulnerable patient. She displayed not only critical thinking and action but excellent communication with the patient's mother, the anesthesiologist and surgeon.
"She consistently advocated for the small patient’s safety and ensured a safe transfer to a higher level of care. I have no doubt that the patient had a good outcome in large part due to her care. She even called the patient's mother the next day to let her know we were thinking about them and to check on them.”
